Which are the best flowers to send?
There are many different reasons to send flowers; to thank someone, to wish them a pleased Birthday, perhaps they are ill and you want to wish them a speedy recovery. Perhaps you just want to send some flowers to a friend of family member to let them know you care about them.
Finding a reason to send someone flowers isn’t the hard part, sometimes choosing which flowers to send, can be. We thought we’d write a handy guide to help you choose the right bouquet to send.
1. Like doesn’t always mean red roses. A dozen red roses is a very traditional bouquet to send to someone you like. Whilst gorgeous and elegant, they can sometimes look a bit stark on their own. Or if you don’t want to send a very obvious romantic gesture, why not choose a bouquet with red roses and other flowers which complement them?
2. Get well soon gifts should be cheerful. With lots of bright flowers and flowers which smell nice. Freesias come in a variety of different colours and have a gorgeous scent. You don’t want someone who isn’t feeling well to have to do too much work, so I would always include a vase with the flower delivery in order to prevent them having to traipse to the shops.
3. Sending flowers as thanks is about surprising the recipient and making an impact. Large, colourful flowers like sunflowers or gerbera would be a excellent choice.
4. Sending Birthday flowers or for an anniversary should be simpler, you are more likely to know the person and what flowers and colours they like. If in doubt, choose neutral tones such as white and peaches and a mixture of roses and lilies will always go down a treat.
5. To send someone something simple, unfussy and just to let them know that you are thinking of them, opt for one type of flower in a simple bouquet – so perhaps a small bunch of tulips or gerbera.
6. If you want to send flowers but aren’t sure what to send, why not bring up the conversation of flowers and question your friend what their favourite flowers are.
7. If you are sending flowers to their workplace, make sure you don’t send something too large which they’d have to commute with at the end of the day. For any large arrangements, include a vase. They are often not very costly, but it is very thoughtful if you aren’t sure whether they have their own vases.
8. Take time over the note included – personalise this as much as possible.
9. Make sure you include who the flowers are from. Most excellent florists follow strict data protection laws and would not be able to tell a recipient who sent the flowers.
Flowers are a wonderful gift, colourful, gorgeous and often sent as a surprise, they are the perfect way to convey emotion.
